Suspect on the run after Wilson officer crashes during chase

WILSON, Okla. (KXII) - A Wilson police officer was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after crashing her vehicle during a pursuit, and the suspect is still on the run.

Wilson Police Officer Keelan Barton was taken to the hospital for a concussion Tuesday night after crashing into a tree while pursuing a suspect.

Police say Barton pulled over a man believed to be Melvin Alpha Jr. for a traffic stop on Dillard Rd. north of U.S. Highway 70. Alpha has a felony warrant for drug charges.

They say Alpha took off, exceeding speeds of 90 miles per hour.

Barton chased after the suspect, but lost control of her vehicle on Holiday Rd. and hit a tree, totaling her vehicle.

Alpha's vehicle was found abandoned in the 2900 block of Stobb Town Rd.
