This week's A+ Athlete is Kyle Schier of Antlers High School. Kyle is the captain of the basketball team, a four year starter on the baseball team, and an All-district wide receiver for the football team.
"To find success, you have to work everyday to be good," said Kyle Schier. "You have to practice and practice like you play. You have to work harder than anyone else, because hard work beats talent. So you have to put the effort in if you want to be good."
"You don't have to be the most athletic to be successful," said Antlers boys basketball coach Tony Marris. "What sets him apart from the other opponents is being able to foresee things, and kind of be at the right place at the right time."
Kyle doesn't just excel on the playing field, but also in the class room. Kyle is a member of the National Honor Society, the Oklahoma Honor Society, he has a 4.0 GPA, and he will graduate as the Valedictorian.
"He's one of those students you can ask them to do anything," said Antlers World History teacher Joetta Buchanan. "He never gripes, always has everything turned in on time and does excellent work. He really is the ideal student. I know he's going to do great things."
"Work hard, and work ethic," said Schier. "I put a lot of time into it, it doesn't come easy to me. I spend extra time every night studying."
When Kyle is not playing sports, or studying to become a teacher, he spends his time volunteering around the Antlers community.
