This week's A+ Athlete is Blake Rowland of Tishomingo High School.
Blake is no stranger to hard work in the class room, he is ranked number one in his class with a 4.0 G.P.A. he scores a 32 on his A.C.T. and he is the academic team captain, where he placed at state three times.
"To know that Blake is one of those students, and to personally know him, to know that I have personally taught him, makes a huge difference," said Tishomingo Science teacher Nikki Pryor. "Because, I know he going to go out in the world and make something of himself, and make the world a better place."
"It makes me feel like I'm doing something right. I have to keep working because people can catch up really easily if you don't," said Rowland You're either getting better, or you're getting worse. You have to keep getting better, no matter what."
But the impressive resume doesn't stop there. Blake is a state qualifier in Cross Country, in track, and in power-lifting. He is the team captain of the Tishomingo football team. During half time, Blake performs in the band.
"I want to do my best no matter what it is," said Rowland. "I would feel disappointed in myself if I didn't put full effort into everything I do."
"I think the things that set Blake apart, are obviously his leadership qualities, his work ethic, his attitude," said Tishomingo head football coach John Sullenger. "He has a tremendous internal drive, he's self motivated, and those are things that are hard to teach."
Blake has also enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and after graduation hopes to join the Naval Academy to pursue a career in Aerospace engineering.
