This week's A+ Athlete is Carson Atwood of Silo High School.
Carson is a 4 time state champion in baseball, a 2-time all-state 3rd baseman, and he also serves at the Rebels ace pitcher.
The things Atwood has learned on the diamond effects all phases of his life.
"You learn a bunch of things, like character, what you are supposed to do, and how to deal with adversity," said A+ Athlete Carson Atwood. "Adversity is a big deal in sports."
"He cares about his teammates. He cares about his family. He cares about everything. He's just the ultimate kid," said Silo head baseball coach Billy Jack Bowen. "They are few and far between. It doesn't surprise you that he does well in the classroom, because he does well everywhere he goes."
Carson can throw a perfect game in the class-room as well. He has a 4.06 G.P.A. He's ranked 2nd in his class, he's a member of the Beta club, National Honors Society, and will graduate with 27 credit hours heading into college.
"He has an understanding that things that are going on right now are necessary to help him in the future," said Silo history teacher Sheila Long. "I think he truly gets that."
"School and sports, they both have to have that hard work and dedication," said Atwood. "You have to put in that extra time to be truly good at it. That's what I have learned."
