This week's A+ Athlete is Ellie Bailey of Tom Bean High School.
Ellie is one of the most accomplished softball players in Texoma history. She's been named all-state 3 times, and she is headed to the University of South Carolina to compete in S.E.C. softball.
Ellie has a career batting average of .556, she's hitting .600 this year, and hasn't struck out in over 2 years.
"My dream since I was a little girl was to play at the highest level that softball has to offer," said A+ Athlete Ellie Bailey. "The fact that I'm just a couple of months away from reaching that, has given me a drive, and makes me want to get better every single day."
"She's highly competitive. If we have team events, like kickball or spike ball or anything like that, where we get the girls together, she wants to win," said Tom Bean softball coach Lance Cherry. "It doesn't matter what it is, she's not fond of losing, let's just say."
Ellie is just as talented in the classroom, she's ranked 7th in her class with a 3.91 G.P.A. She's the senior vice president, a member of N.H.S. F.F.A. and has been on the A honor roll her entire high school career.
"I always want to compete with my peers. I'm always trying to be that student that makes the highest grade in the class. If I don't have the highest grade, I'm also going to be that student that asks the teacher how I can get better, and how I can improve for next time."
"She does a great job, especially at a small school like ours. We expect her to do so many things for our school, and represent each of our programs," said Tom Bean AV/production teacher Wes Champman. "She's very active in school, and she does a great job for us."
