A+ Athlete: Ethan Bedgood, Sherman
This week's A+ Athlete is Ethan Bedgood of Sherman High School. Ethan is a 4.0 student, ranked in the top 5% of his class.
He was a student of the year in business, marketing and finance, and was also the student of the year in Spanish. He's a member of National Honors Society, the F.C.A. President, and he's active in his church.
"For me it's mostly about balance," said A+ Athlete Ethan Bedgood. "Just having a healthy balance between football practice and games, and also making sure that I'm getting home and doing my homework, and studying for test and everything. Just making sure it's all a healthy balance."
"He's just a highly motivated young man. He has great goals and aspirations," said PALS coordinator Douglas Holtzlaw. "He does the little things it takes to be highly successful. He's always up early working and studying. What separates him is his work ethic like none other I've ever seen."
On the field, Bedgood is a 2 sport star. He is a 3-time all district baseball player, and is a 2-time all district football player.
He's the team captain for the Bearcats, and one of their best players on defense, but it's his leadership that sets this Sherman star apart.
"Football and baseball teach you more than I can even think of. For me, the most important aspect is just leadership," said Bedgood. "Knowing how to lead people and being a good example for others."
"He's not a talker. He's one of those guys that's a do'er," said Sherman football coach JD Martinez. "I just think that some of things he goes about, he's going to show you how it's supposed to be done. He's going to lead by example. And we need more of that in the world."
