A+ Athlete: Jarrett McIntyre, Boswell
This week's A+ Athlete is Jarrett McIntyre of Boswell High School.
Jarrett is the star pitcher for the Scorpions baseball team, leading his club to a district title last season.
Jarrett has been the team captain for the last two years, he was all conference in 2019, and he was named the runner up for conference pitcher of the year, giving everything he has to the game.
"I've never focused on height or size or anything like that," said A+ Athlete Jarrett McIntyre. "Baseball is a unique game because, no matter your size or height, it's all about technique. No matter how you're built, you can do well in baseball."
"He's probably one of the best people and players I've ever coached in my career," said Boswell head baseball coach Tim Bowen. "He definitely makes practices and games a lot easier. He's a great leader on the field, and off the field as well."
Jarrett knocks it out of the park when he's in the classroom too. He is ranked number one in his class with a 4.0 G.P.A.
He's a 4-time student of the month, and he's enrolled in college classes. Putting forth his best effort where ever he is.
"It's not so much coming out on top, it's doing the best you can," said McIntyre. "I know the best I can do, so I'm not going to put out anything less. It's not necessarily being number one, it's being the best you can be."
"If they were all like him, it would be a joy everyday," said Boswell math teacher Rebecca Pierce. "It's easy to teach him, and he just wants to learn everyday. So, we just enjoy it."
Jarrett is also involved in FFA, FCA, and he volunteers at his church.
