This week's A+ Athlete is Karson Dry of Rock Creek High School.
Karson is a four-year member of the Mustangs basketball team, leading his squad to the playoffs in all three years. He has made the basketball court his second home, using all of his free time to practice to make it back to the playoffs one more time.
"If you want to see it pay off, you always have to put in the work," said Dry. "You always have to be in the gym working on your craft. Hard work always pays off."
"I feel extremely comfortable walking into any gym with Karson stepping off the bus first, and walking into those gyms, knowing that this is the quintessential person from Rock Creek," said Craig Andrus, Rock Creek head basketball coach.
Karson is just as automatic from 15 feet as he is in the classroom. He's in National Honor Society, Student Council, he has a 3.9 GPA and he is ranked number one in his class. But he doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon.
"You always want to strive for greatness, so that's what I try to do," said Dry. "I may not have been the most athletic person on the court, or the smartest one in the class, but I always wanted to be the hardest working one in the class. So, I don't stop until I'm number one."
"He comes in, he takes care of business, and he's always prepares," said Leandra Jestis. "I've honestly never heard him say a negative thing about an assignment, a person, a day. He's always happy."
When he's not acing a test or hitting a mid range jumper, Karson can be found volunteering around the community, which is another reason Karson Dry is this week's A+ Athlete.
