This week's A+ Athlete is Kynsey Dixon of Caddo High School. Kynsey ranks at the top of her class with a 3.9 GPA, she is a member of National Honors Society, a permanent member of the superintendent's honor roll and a member of the varsity academic team.
She participates in curriculum contests, and serves her community through angel tree, blue ribbon awareness and coat and food drives.
"I think it's always good to try your best, no matter what you're doing," Dixon said. "Especially in school. Going into the future, everything just builds up and builds up and you have to always do your best."
"She's just a young lady that takes what she has been given and goes for what she wants," language arts teacher Pam Wingfield said. "She is very driven. She has a good future in front of her."
On the court Kynsey has been a staple on the Caddo basketball team. She has been named to the all-conference team twice, she was the MVP of the Bryan County Tournament last year and is a four year starter.
Dixon is also a 4-time state qualifier in track, where she runs the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.
"It's more than a game to me. It's definitely a huge part of my life and always has been," Dixon said. "It teaches you to work with your team and not worry about yourself so much. It's about winning and value your other people "
"She's in a leadership role, and she knows it," head basketball coach Kolby Johnson said. "We ask a lot of her. When it comes crunch time, we know that Kynsey is going to get us where we need to be. She's just done a good job for us and she has grown over the years and has been a starter for four years."
