This week's A+ Athlete is Lauren Jaresh of S&S High School. Lauren is the star pitcher for the Lady Rams, leading her team to the post season in each of her first 3 seasons.
She was named first team all-district as a freshman, and she is the back to back pitcher of the year. Using a great fastball, and mental strength to put her team in front.
"To be a pitcher, you have to mentally strong. You can't let things get to you," said A+ Athlete Lauren Jaresh. "You just have to remember to take the game one pitch at a time. Even if you win or lose, you just have to know your absolute best."
"I just think she wants to be the best, so she's going to do whatever it takes to be the best," said S&S softball coach Brandy Courville. "She works outside of practice, she takes batting lessons, she does pitching lessons. So she's always working at something to get better."
Lauren is also always working to get better in the classroom, and so far it's paid off. She is number one in her class with a 3.9 G.P.A.
On top of that, she's in National Honor Society and Beta Club. Lauren has also been named the student of the year in World History, U.S. History, Alegbra, and English. No matter what she does, she plans to win.
"I love to win, I don't like to fail at anything I do," said Jaresh. "I just have a lot of drive to beat whoever is better than me, and to compete at the highest level possible."
"Lauren is definitely a perfectionist," said S&S English teacher Jana Terry. "She always challenges herself, and those around her to do better at everything she does."
After she graduates, Lauren will continue her softball career at St. Edwards University.
