This week's A+ Athlete is Paige Anderson of Lone Grove High School.

Paige has been a huge part of the successful softball program at Lone Grove, helping the Lady Horns to the state semi finals last season, and a state finals appearance in 2017.

On top of playing stellar defense at first base, Paige also has state tournament experience in golf, including a state runner up finish. She finds a way to success, no matter what.

"Softball is a game of failure, so it really works on your attitude, keeping your attitude positive even though things aren't going very well," said A+ Athlete Paige Anderson. "You could go 1 for 3, or 2 for 4, and feel like you didn't play good even though a .500 batting average is pretty good. That's really the main thing. It teaches me to have a good attitude."

"Softball is a game where you have to deal with failure all the time. She does that," said Lone Grove head softball coach Jimmy Miller. "She learns from every at bat, learn from every mistake, and try to get better. She does that very well, and it shows in how she grows."

Paige also swings for the fences in the class room. She's number one in her class with a 4.0 G.P.A. She's made the superintendents honor roll every semester.

On top of that, she's involved in student council, Oklahoma Honor society, and she has numerous awards in academic competitions. She understands it's knowledge that will take her where she wants to be.

"I want to have the freedom to do whatever I want," said Anderson. "I feel like if I have enough knowledge of a broad base, then I feel like I can go anywhere that I want to go to."

"Students like Ms. Anderson don't come around that often," said Lone Grove math teacher Philip Black. "She's just outstanding when it comes to wanting to learn, and putting all that she's got into it. She's just one of those that you love to have."

When Paige isn't on the softball field, or in the library, she spends her time volunteers at food drives and singing at church events. Which is another reason Paige Anderson is this week's A+ Athlete.
