A+ Athlete: Ryan Riddle, Denison

This week's A+ Athlete is Ryan Riddle of Denison High School. To say Ryan is a star student may an under statement.

He is ranked number one in his class. He is a member of the National Honor Society. He volunteers around Denison, and he is involved with student council. And even though he has a packed schedule, he still makes grades a priority.

"Academics is the most important thing by far. Sports and everything is fun, but when it comes down to it, it's going to carry you further in life," said Riddle. "I can't play football and other sports forever, but academics will carry me all the way through. I put value on that, so I know it's most important."

"If I had 30 Ryan Riddle's in one class, it would be great. He's dedicated, he leads by example," said Denison Calculus teacher Valerie Walters. "He studies hard, he does all of his work. He makes sure he's a great leader for his class mates."

He continues that leadership onto the football field. Ryan is a big part of the Denison offensive line, earning Academic All District honors in every season, as well as 1st team All District at the tackle position. He also strives to be the best in Powerlifitng, and track.

"He works extremely hard at his craft. He shows up ready to go to work, whatever it may be," said Denison head football coach Chad Rogers. "If he can't achieve something, it doesn't mean he can't do it, it means he's going to keep working at it until he gets it done."

"You just have to be dedicated. You have to execute, every play," said Riddle. "We have to wake up, it gets hard to get out of bed sometimes at 6 o'clock every morning. But you have to be dedicated to it." - Riddle

After graduation, Ryan hopes to pursue a career in Biomedical Engineering.
