This week's A+ Athlete is Taylor Spence of Kingston High School. Taylor is a tremendous student., ranked number one in her class with a 4.18 GPA. She is a member of National Honors Society, she is a student council officer, and she scored a 29 on her ACT.
"I would definitely say that I have never been the most athletic on the field or anything like that," Spence said. "The thing I like to pride myself on, is how hard I work. And I take that into the classroom as well."
"The work ethic is second to none," Kingston English teacher Brett Hayes said. "She is very creative. One of my top writers in our creative part of the English class. She always turns her work in, always punctual, always willing to help the other students if they need help in the class."
On the field, Taylor is one of the best softball players in the state. She was the district pitcher of the year and named to the all-state team. She is a district MVP, and holds Kingston's single season and career school records for strikeouts and wins.
"She's just a great competitor," Kingston softball coach Darron Henson said. "Not only does she have good stuff as a pitcher, and have all the pitches, she's just such a competitor and it carries over to her teammates and the success that she has."
"I don't know if it's winning, so much, as the want to win. Pat Summitt said that. I think I'll go by that law," Spence said. "It is, how bad you want things that plays a big role in everything that I do."
