It was signing day, stay at home style, for Bells star softball player Bella Smith, who signed with Lubbock Christian.
Smith is coming off a tremendous career at Bells, even if the rest of her senior year is never played due to COVID-19. Smith played a pivotal role in both of Bells' state championships in 2017 and 2018.
Signing in the back yard, surrounded by her parents, Smith has a great appreciation for what comes next.
"It's not what I imagined, but in some ways it's better," Smith said. "It's more personal this way. And I get a chance to let in sink without having all the eyes on me. I just get a chance to cope with the fact that all my dreams are coming true."
Smith carefully made her decision toward Lubbock Christian after considering everything she was looking for in a college home.
"Playing softball for a long time, I've been on a lot of college campuses, and I've been able to get a feel for the mood around me. As soon as I stepped on campus at Lubbock Christian I knew that was where I wanted to be."
