Denison junior Lindsay Looney qualifies for third State Swim Meet

Denison's Lindsay Looney will head back to the state swimming and diving meet to defend her gold medals in two events.

At the Class 5A Region II meet on Saturday, Looney won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:06.26. She claimed the title by 7.5 seconds. In addition, Looney placed 1st in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.13 seconds. She was a full two seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Looney is the Class 5A girls defending champion in both the 200 IM and 100 fly.

For her performance on Saturday, Looney was named the 5A Region II Female Athlete of the Meet.

The State Swim Meet takes place February 16th and 17th at the University of Texas at Austin.
