The Dodd City Hornets are just days away from the State tournament, making their first trip back since 2012.
The Hornets clinched their state tournament berth with a comeback win over Abbott in the regional finals, which is the team that ended their season in 2018.
"These guys, they always battle. They do what they can all the time. They come to practice, they work hard," said Dodd City head coach Clint Lindsey. "They're very coachable. Just the mentality of what they have is amazing."
"We don't have any quit. It doesn't matter if it's the bottom of the 7th and we're down by 10, or 9," said Dodd City outfielder Zayne Kennon. "We're still going to go after them, just like we would any other inning."
"Baseball is a mental game. Half of it is about keeping your head in it," said Dodd City pitcher Dillon Jones. "Staying focused, and so keep pushing through it because it's going to be a close one. We both have great teams."
Dodd City will play D'Hanis in the state semi finals on Wednesday in Round Rock.
