Former Southeastern football star Codey McElroy will head to Cowboys training camp next week in search of a job with America's Team.
McElroy joined the Cowboys in the off-season as a free agent, after spending the 2018 season with the Los Angeles Rams.
"I know what to expect a little more this time," McElroy said. "I am just counting down the days, ready to get out there."
The Cowboys report to training camp on July 26th. McElroy figures to be in the mix for a roster spot as a tight end. The Cowboys have Jason Witten returning to the team as the likely starter. There is an expected competition that will for the backup spots between several candidates, including McElroy.
"Being from Southwest Oklahoma, everybody liked the Cowboys. I dressed up as a Cowboy for a couple of Halloweens. To get a chance to do this, and hopefully make the team, and friends to come watch, that would be awesome."
