James Gage has stepped down as head coach and athletic director at S&S High School to become the offensive coordinator at Class 6A Alvin High School.
Gage leaves the Rams after 4 years at the helm. He was hired back in May of 2015.
Gage led the Rams to three playoff appearances in his four seasons. S&S struggled with injuries last season and missed the playoffs for the first time during his tenure after going 0-10.
Gage cited the opportunity to coach for a big school program and the ability to be closer to his family as primary reasons for the move.
"It was just a great opportunity," Gage said. "It was a chance for me to get back into a big school, a 6A school. That is my end goal. I want a chance to be a head coach at a big school some day."
