When the Collinsville Lady Pirates and Sam Rayburn Lady Rebels prepared for the opening tip-off, all eyes were on Collinsville Senior Carrie Johnson, who began the game with 2,997 career points.
After a layup early in the first quarter, Johnson needed just one point to reach 3,000. With less than two minutes left in the quarter, she found herself with a wide open look from beyond the arch, and swished the three-pointer to give her 3,002 career points. She would end with 25 points on the night, leading Collinsville to the win.
Johnson, who will play college basketball at Southeastern Oklahoma State University next year, also owns the national record of three-pointers made in a career.
