Marietta cross-country coach Matt Appelman put his hair up for auction if the Indians won the state cross-country meet. Wednesday was payday.
Marietta won the 3A state cross-country meet in both the boys and girls divisions. Appelman had told the team that he would put his hair up for sale to help raise money to offset the costs for state championship rings.
The plan worked. Marietta raised over $900 to put toward the rings in an event they called "haircut for rings".
