The Ardmore Tigers highlighted their best sports year in school history by winning the Class 5A State Football Championship in 1992.
Ardmore played OKC Douglass in the title game, otherwise remembered as the "Snow Bowl". This game almost didn't happen, as the OSSAA considered canceling it because of the weather.
Ardmore star Da'Wuan Lawson scored two touchdowns in the game. Quarterback Jeff Moser had an all-state receiver in Taj Johnson who he connected with for a touchdown. Dion Wiggins had 107 yards rushing.
The Tigers won their fourth title in school history and their second title under coach Ronnie Tipps. Tipps had also led Ardmore to a championship in 1990.
Ardmore had to go through powerhouse Carl Albert just to get to the finals. Douglass had a star player in Alonzo Mayes who would star at Oklahoma State later.
This was considered the "greatest time" in Ardmore sports history. The 1992-1993 sports year brought state championships in football, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys and girls tennis and boys track.
Lawson broke the game open with the kick return. Ardmore won, 34-14 to secure the fourth title in school history.
