The Howe Bulldogs had a tall and talented roster in 2005. The Bulldogs made it to state for the first time in school history.
Howe rolled through the playoffs all the way to the state semifinals. They had key playoff wins against established basketball schools like Ponder and Argyle along the way.
Collin Mangrum earned Class 2A all-state tournament team. He would later play for UNT and SMU. Justin Howerton was a force inside at 6-10 and athletic. He would go on to play at UNT.
The Bulldogs magical season ended in the state semifinals against another established program in Jim Ned High School.
