Sports 12 Rewind Legends: Chris Gittens
Chris Gittens was a big time baseball player for the Sherman Bearcats, as well as the Grayson Vikings.
At Sherman, he felt just as comfortable on the mound as he did at the plate. He threw a perfect game, and 3 no hitters over his high school career.
But he really stole the show during his senior year in 2012 with 113 strikeouts and a .42 ERA on the mound. In the batters box, he had a batting average of .438 with 4 homeruns. He was also named the district MVP that year.
After high school, he went on to play at Grayson for two years before being drafted by the New York Yankees in the 2014 draft.
In 2019 he was named the MVP of the Eastern League while playing for the Trenton Thunder in Double A.
Most recently, Chris played in Spring training for the Yankees, and had the clubs first home run.
