Sports 12 Rewind Legends: Danny Darwin
Before a successful 20 year Major League Baseball career, Danny Darwin was a star at Bonham and Grayson College.
Darwin was pitcher with the Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros and several other major league clubs. Before all that, he was the "Bonham Bullet" while playing for the Bonham Warriors in the early 1970's. Darwin's jersey is retired at Bonham High School.
Darwin's path to the majors went through Grayson College where he had to try out to make the team. He did, and then his career really took off. Darwin signed with the Texas Rangers as an undrafted free agent in 1976. By 1978, he was in the big leagues and ended up starting 371 games. He also struck out 1,942 hitters.
