Sports 12 Rewind Legends: Justin Lawler

Justin Lawler was a standout athlete in multiple sports in Pottsboro, including football. During his senior year in 2012 he had 44 catches for over 700 yards and 11 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, he had 124 tackles, and 13 sacks.

He was also named first team all state, all state defensive MVP, and was the district MVP twice.

After high school, he signed to play football at S.M.U. where he saw plenty of playing time as a freshman, and became a starter as a sophomore.

Over his 4 year career with the Mustangs he totaled up 226 tackles, 20.5 sacks, and caught a touchdown pass.

He was later drafted by the Rams in the 7th round of the 2018 draft and has 6 total tackles in the NFL

In high school he also played basketball, baseball, he was a power lifter, and ran track. But it was football that pushed him into the spotlight.
