Sports 12 Rewind: Sam Rayburn softball advances to 2013 state tournament

The Sam Rayburn softball team was looking to return to the state tournament for the second year in a row as they played Hubbard in the 2013 regional finals.

Alaina Kissinger was getting it done in the circle, as she usually did, keeping Hubbard off the board early.

Maddie Dow made the key play at the plate with a 3-run home run to put the game out of reach. Sam Rayburn won 7-2 to advance to the state tournament for the second straight year.

Other great players on the team included Ali Wiechman and Jaiden Pelton.

Sam Rayburn also won in the state semifinals before falling in the championship game for the second straight year. The Lady Rebels finished the season with a 30-2 record.
