The Tioga Lady Bulldogs made a name for themselves and the school when they won the 2016 state volleyball championship.
The Lady Bulldogs were playing in the state championship game against a team that had already won 6 state titles. Tioga had only been a school for four years, but they played like they had been there many times before.
Andrea Perez earned MVP honors after having 32 kills and 18 digs in the title game. Carly Hough, Destini Maness, Emma Stonebraker and Paityn Glaze were all key players.
Tioga won in five sets, taking the final game 15-11. Brittany Barnett had 37 assists. Nicole Hill was a freshman and ended up being a great player at Tioga.
Coach Mindy Patton was the calming influence. She had led Holliday to the state semifinals before and had played on two state title teams at Windthorst.
The 1A championship was the first in the school's brief history.
