Two Pottsboro student-athletes sign to play college sports

It was a double signing at Pottsboro High School today with Kendal Rainey and Sammy Wallis each finding a college home.

Rainey will continue her softball career at Hendrix College. She has been a big part of the Lady Cardinals program.

"It's a culmination of not even four years, but eight years, of school work and softball," Rainey said. "Even my basketball coach is here, because he knows how much time and effort it took. It just means a lot to me that there are people here that care enough to see me through all four years even in a COVID pandemic."

Sammy Wallis will head North to Durant to be a part of the Southeastern track and field team.

"It's pretty awesome thing," Wallis said. "I have tried hard throughout high school to be able to be known by colleges. To even be offered to go throw at Southeastern is a pretty big deal for me and my family."
