The Van Alstyne Panthers will continue play in the high school baseball playoffs Thursday, when they take on Atlanta at Emory Rains High School.
The Panthers are coming off a huge 3rd round win against rival Pottsboro, which was a big step as they head into the regional semifinals.
"We're really pumped up to go to round 4. I think the third series was the most crucial of throughout playoffs," said Van Alstyne center fielder Tyler Wilson. "I think since we handled that well, we'll be pretty awesome."
"Our defense is usually pretty consistent. But in the playoffs, our bats have woken up a little more than they did in the regular season," said Van Alstyne second baseman Nathan Cuthbertson. "So with our bats being alive, and then our defense and pitching doing pretty well, I think we'll be pretty good."
"I think we're at a point that we are comfortable playing in close ballgames," said Van Alstyne head coach Jimmy Haynes. "We've played them all year. I think we're comfortable playing from behind. Our confidence level is way up right now."
