Van Alstyne prepares for regional finals

The Van Alstyne Panthers are one series win away from returning to the state tournament.

The Panthers went to state back in 2016 and can return to the big stage with a series win against Harmony.

The three game series will begin in Tyler on Thursday and continue with game 2 on Friday in Prosper. Game 3 would be played in Royse City on Saturday if needed.

"It's been our goal from the beginning of the season." catcher Rhett Gallagher said. "We've all known it's possible, but now it feels like that it's not only possible, but we're within arms reach of it."

"It's obviously a goal from the start of the season," infielder David Terrill said. "I'm super hyped that we've made it this far, and look to continue."

"The goal is to get to graduation week, and we did that," head coach Jimmy Haynes said. "Now we're playing beyond graduation, which is really awesome. The guys get to sleep in late, they don't have to get up and go to school, so they get to sleep in and then come to baseball practice."
