Vargas hired as Durant head football coach

Durant has hired Todd Vargas to be the head football coach of the Lions. Vargas has been the head coach at Madill for the past two seasons.

Vargas leaves behind his alma-mater to coach in Durant. The Wildcats went 3-7 last season, and 4-6 the year before. This is not his first 5A coaching stop. Vargas coached at Altus before arriving in Madill.

Vargas takes over for Ray Richards who retired in January. He inherits a team that went 3-7 and is moving into a newly shaped district following realignment.

Madill had just moved down from 4A to 3A, as they begin their coaching search.
