SHERMAN -- An unwanted visitor caused Herman Baker Park in Sherman to be shut down indefinitely on Sunday. Park visitors spotted an alligator lurking in the waters of the park Sunday afternoon and alerted authorities.
Animal Control responded, and they contacted the game warden.
The park has since been shut down to all visitors as a precaution while authorities await the arrival of a team trained in handling a situation like this.
The Sherman Police Department tells First News that it may take several days before that team is able to catch the reptile.
Animal Control officers estimate the gator to measure about 6 feet in length.
