HOWE, Texas -- April was National Child Abuse Prevention Month, but a Texoma company is extending the awareness campaign through business.
"I think it's a good thing, it's a way to involve the community."
Bryan Frazier and his carpet cleaning crew of Frazier Carpet Cleaning, have been in business for about 3 years.
Based out of Bonham, they've scrubbed down homes in the Fannin County area and beyond.
It was this April, though, that he changed up the normal routine for a cause.
"You know that kind of touches my heart," Frazier said. "I'm sensitive to kids, I have a soft spot for them."
For each job done during Child Abuse Prevention Month, the company donated $10 to the Fannin County Children's Center.
It's a gesture that struck a chord with Howe resident Debbie Reece, who saw a Facebook post by the Fannin County Children's Center about Frazier's business.
"Children need a loving, safe place," Reece said. "And those places need funds."
Reece is a children's book author who recently donated part of her profits to the same cause.
Her need for clean carpets was pure coincidence.
"Everybody has an avenue to give, and children deserve a soft place to land and loving arms to have wrapped around them," she said.
"It's not just Bryan doing this," Frazier explained. "It's through my customers that we're able to do this."
About 20 customers and counting have given their support, and although April has ended, Frazier plans to extend the donations into the first few weeks of May.
"If you can't depend on the ones who are supposed to love you, then who can you depend on," he said.
