Celebrate the Run Fest

SHERMAN, Texas -- Runners from across Texoma took to the streets in Sherman Saturday for the tenth annual Celebrate the Run Fest.

The run organized by the Sherman Education Foundation is part of the Sherman Autumn and Arts Fest.

More than six hundred people signed up to run.

One runner, who finished the race in 23 minutes, says the run is important to help support the future society.

"This is a way to make sure that all children in our community get a good foundation to their education so that they can either go to college or go to professional school or at least do something that they can contribute to our society in the future," said Lisa M. Brown, Austin College Professor who ran in the race.

The money raised goes toward education grants for Sherman ISD faculty to use the following school year.

News 12 is a proud sponsor of the event.
