MADILL, OK -- An explosion Monday afternoon at a Madill plant has left two men dead and another man burned.

Sheriff Ed Kent says the man who suffered burns to the back of his head was last listed in stable condition and should be ok. No names are being released.

The explosion happened around 3:45 PM at Mid American Steel & Wire on Smiley Road just south of Madill. Plant management said a furnace exploded due to gas build up.

"The staff had taken a burn victim to Marshall Memorial Hospital, " Kent said. "The last report I got on him was he was going to be alright. I believe they were going to treat him and release him and fire marshal was called and medical examiner was called."

Sheriff Kent says the fire marshal and investigators from OSHA are investigating the cause and will be back on the scene Tuesday..
