LAMAR COUNTY, TX-- Two Lamar County Sheriff's Deputies are on paid leave, after a the fatal officer involved shooting Friday morning.
Sheriff Scott Cass says around 3:30 a.m., deputies responded to a home on Walnut Street in Blossom, about ten miles east of Paris.
When they arrived they were confronted by an armed man outside the home, who allegedly started shooting at the deputies. The deputies then returned fire on the suspect who died at the scene from gunshot wounds.
No one else was injured in the shootings.
"The Texas Rangers have come in and taken over the investigation," said Sheriff Cass. "They will be the lead agency on the investigation, and they have sent the body to the medical examiner."
The names of the two deputies and victim aren't being released at this time.
Cass says they're still in the early stages of investigation, and more information about the shooting is expected to be released.
