DURANT, OK - Durant now has new way to make a good first impression on people visiting the area. Today the city held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its brand new state of the art airport terminal out at Eaker Field.
Close to one hundred city and business leaders, along with aviation officials, came out to tour the new terminal and thank those involved in the project. The 8-thousand square foot building features comfortable waiting areas with flat screen TVs, a flight planning room, a pilot's lounge, and a several meeting rooms.
City Manager Jim Dunegan says the new terminal is something that the city has needed for quite some time.
"There's a lot of people involved and a lot of organizations and companies were involved that's been requesting that the airport be upgraded. We've got a lot of people coming in here. We've got a lot of growth in Durant," Dunegan said.
Design and construction of the terminal was funded through the Durant Industrial Authoritiy and a grant provided by the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission.
