Semi rollover sends driver to hospital, knocks out power for hours

ARTHUR CITY, Texas -- A semi accident in Arthur City knocked out power to parts of Lamar County yesterday afternoon and left the driver in the hospital.

Deputies say around 2 o'clock, a semi-truck hauling sand along US Hwy 271 South near the weigh scales at Big Tex lost control and hit a utility pole. It left several homes in the area without power for hours.

The truck made it back onto the highway where it rolled over.

The driver was medflighted to a Dallas hospital. His injuries are unknown.

Hwy 271 North was blocked until the truck and trailer were removed from the scene.
