DENISON, Texas -- A Texoma high school now has its long awaited school zone signs installed.
On Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation put up the new school zone signs on State Highway 91 in front of Denison High School.
The signs have been the center of debate since the new high school opened in August after a handful of accidents occurred just outside the school.
After two speed zone studies by TxDOT, the Denison City Council granted final approval to reduce the speed to 35 MPH at a meeting on May 4.
The speed limit will be in effect before and after school and during the lunch hour.
