GORDONVILLE, Texas -- Strong winds caused massive damage at a local marina, leaving the owners with months of hard work and heartache ahead.
Wind was too strong and the storm hit too fast at Big Mineral Marina Tuesday night.
Boats are basically crumbled together and the slips are in shambles.
The work is clearly cut out for owners John and Lisa Barnett.
"We have had floods in the past," John Barnett said. "We know how to deal with those but what is tough is when you have a storm on top of the flood."
Big Mineral Marina will be closed until the flooding subsides.
The Barnett's worry the resort will be closed the entire summer.
"When you lose Memorial Day weekend, you're not going to be back in business by July 4," Barnett said. "I would be very surprised if we were."
Derek Kleinert has kept his boats at the resort since 1988.
Kleinert said only one of his boats was damaged and he is more concerned about the heartbreaking overall picture.
"We all try to support everybody, especially in a smaller marina like this," Kleinert said. "We all pull together and help out as much as possible."
The path of destruction leads the Barnett's to believe this was a tornado.
John Barnett said the damage estimate is about $500,000.
"We have had such an outpouring of support from our customers and friends," John Barnett said. "Its just overwhelming."
