This week's A+ Athlete is Alexis Spence from Kingston High School.
Alexis shines in the classroom, she's competing to be valedictorian with a 4.08 GPA, Vice President of her class, is taking courses at Southeastern and made the Dean's Honor Roll at Southeastern.
"If you have a better education, the better lifestyle and the better quality life you might have," Spence said. "That's something I've always wanted to do, is to have a really good education."
"She really excels at her schoolwork," English Teacher Aaron Beshears said. "She's always coming in, even after she has a game, always coming in making sure gets the assignment before she leaves. She's really dedicated student."
Outside the classroom Alexis competes in three sports, slow and fast pitch softball and basketball. She's a guard on the hardwood for Kingston and helped lead the lady Redskins to a district title in softball and two victories in the regional tournament, a first in school history.
"She's very competitive," Basketball Coach Chad Rumer said. "You can tell that by her grade point average, by the way she works in practice and how she plays in games. She's very competitive and works hard in everything she does."
Alexis plans on enrolling at Southeastern to pursue a degree in pre-pharmacy. And that's why Alexis Spence is this week's A+ Athlete.>
