RINGLING, Okla. - For this week's A+ Athlete we head to Ringling High School where senior Bailey Tolliver has built quite the academic resume.
She is currently ranked first in her class with a 4.0 GPA, a member of the National, Oklahoma and Indian Honor Society's and a part of Ringling's Academic State Championship Softball team.
"I want to be the best I can be," Tolliver said. "I want to display the talent that God has given me as much as I can."
"You can do a lot, as a teacher, when you have a student who is as driven as Bailey," Tolliver's teacher Kelly Howard said.
Her athletic resume is just as polished. Bailey was named to the All-State fast pitch softball team this past season and a member of the all conference basketball team two consecutive years.
"She's played third base, she's played shortstop, all three of the outfield positions, she's just a great athlete and a great leader," said Bailey's fast pitch coach Steve Pybas.
Outside of school Bailey volunteers her time organizing blood drives, participating in Toys for Tots, Angel Tree and helping raise funds for Prayers for Jacob, a benefit for a local 2nd grader battling cancer.
"It brings me joy to help others," Tolliver said. "It encourages me and then all the little kids seeing me help somebody else in my community."
Next Fall, Bailey will walk on the Murray State College softball team and plans on studying pre-pharmacy. And that's why Bailey Tolliver is this week's A+ Athlete.
