This week's A+ Athlete is Jamie Hawkins from Dickson High School.
Jamie is an honor student and a versatile athlete competing and excelling in Basketball, Track and Cross Country.
And she's always up for putting in some extra time to improve both academically and athletically.
"She's always there on the open gyms and always wanting to go more and do extra," Basketball coach Jennifer Mays-Krimmer said. "She's one of the girls, during basketball practice, that is really vocally leading the team."
"I just want to do good in life," Hawkins said. "I just know if I slack off, even just a little bit, I won't get as far as I want to."
In Cross Country Jamie was named All State her freshman year and was the top runner on a team that finished 3rd at state this year.
When she's not running Jamie is the team leader in rebounds, makes buzzer beater shots and game winning free throws on the basketball court.
"Being part of a team is what I enjoy," Hawkins said. "The friendships is something you'll never forget."
In the classroom Jamie is one of the tops in her class with a 3.83 GPA and has been a superintendent's honor roll throughout high school.
"She really just is what you want your child to be like and what you want other kids to follow," Match teacher Danesa Wilson said. "Because you can depend on her and you know she's going to do her best no matter what she does."
After graduation, Jamie plans on majoring in education and become a teacher. And that's why Jamie Hawkins is this week's A+ Athlete.
