This week's A+ Athlete is Morgan Phelps from Fox High School.
Phelps is a standout basketball player for the Foxes. The four year letterman led the team in rebounds. Basketball is not the only sport she competes in. Phelps runs track, plays golf, and is also a cheerleader.
"She's just one of those kids that regardless of what you ask her to do, she's going to do, Fox baseball coach Mark Williams said. "You don't have to worry about her goofing off and not spending time in the gym, because she does spend quality time in the gym and does what she needs to do. She's the kind of player that any coach would like to coach."
Inside the classroom is where Morgan really excels. Her 4.0 GPA has her ranked at the top of her class. She scored a 30 on the ACT and will have completed over 20 college credit hours by graduation. She has been the recipient of the OSSAA Academic State Achievement Award twice.
"Academics always gives you something to learn. It always gives you something to strive for and something to reach," Phelps said.
"Morgan is well driven. She's always well prepared," History teacher James Worley said. "It's nice to have a student that has all of her assignments done on time, not only are they done on time, but they're really high scores. (She) studies well for the test and usually is wanting to know what the next assignment is."
Morgan assists with the Special Olympics, volunteers as a tutor, prepares and delivers meals to the elderly and lent a helping hand to the tornado victims in Oklahoma City.
"I want to see others happy and that drives me, because I know when I help people others are happy and whenever I do good you make your parents proud and that's just in general making others happy." Phelps said.
After graduation, Morgan plans on going to optometry school at Northeastern Oklahoma State University. And that's why Morgan Phelps is this week's A+ Athlete.
