RATTAN, Okla. - As a six-time Academic All-State Champion, Rattan's Rachel Birchfield exemplifies what it means to be an A+ Athlete.
Rachel is ranked first in her class with a 4.0 GPA, president of the National Honor Society, scored a 31 on her ACT and has completed 12 college hours with a 4.0.
"Academics is really the future," Birchfield said. "Getting a good education is super important to be successful in life, because just to go to the next step you need an education."
"She's just a good person," said Birchfield's teacher, Melissa Miller. "She's one that you can ask to do anything and she will do it just willingly, has a great positive attitude. She works hard in the classroom, she just goes over and beyond anything I ask her to do."
Rachel performs on an all-state level on the playing field as well. She is a three sport athlete and was named to the Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Softball All-State Team this year. Rachel also helped lead the Lady Rams to two Slow-pitch state championships and state runner-up in fast-pitch this year.
"Rachel is just a girl you wish all your girls were like," said Paul Watts, Birchfield's softball coach. " She works hard at everything she does. She tries to not overachieve, but get accomplished what you ask of her."
Rachel signed her letter of intent to play softball at Oklahoma Baptist earlier this week, where she plans on studying pre-med. And that's why Rachel Birchfield is this week's A+ Athlete.
