This week's A+ Athlete comes to us from Tushka High School.
Sadi Avants is a standout pitcher for the Lady Tigers softball team, she's helped lead Tushka to two state championships in slow pitch, she's a 3-time All-Conference player and has received several scholarship offers to play softball in college.
"My softball team also push me hard, I mean in everything we do," Avants said. "I mean even if it's something little bitty on the side of the softball field, it's something they push me to do. Without my family, without my coach, without the girls on the team I probably wouldn't be where I am."
"She's dedicated, hard working and does her job," Avants' softball coach David Durbin said.
In the classroom Sadi is a standout as well, she has a 3.85 GPA, is vice president of her class, a National Honor Society member and is president of the FCCLA.
"She's working so hard to take the top classes here at school," Avants' Family Consumer Science Teacher Peggy Chambers said. "She loves to read. She's involved in every student organization we have here at school.
"She is a true leader on and off the field."
"Your education is going to get you a long ways," Avants said. "You're going to need it for what you're going to do when you get older."
Sadi is also very active in her community. She is a member of the Choctaw Nation Youth Advisory Board, volunteers for local youth groups and umpires for local little leagues.
After she graduates she plans getting a degree in accounting. And that's why Sadi Avants is this week's A+ Athlete.
