Austin College volleyball player Presleigh Watson has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her outstanding play in four matches last week, the league office has announced.
Watson, a sophomore middle blocker from Oklahoma City, came in as the nation's leader in total blocks, led the 'Roos to a 3-1 weekend and was a menace yet again defensively.
Watson finished with 21 blocks over the weekend, averaging 1.50 blocks per set throughout. She had nine blocks in a straight set victory over Jarvis Christian. She was also great offensively, where Watson finished with 40 kills, averaging 2.86 kills per set while hitting .436.
For the season, Watson continues to lead the conference, and the nation, with 117 total blocks, and is sixth in the nation with blocks/set at 1.31. She also leads the conference in hitting percentage at .389 and is fourth in the SCAC with 220 total kills.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
