ECU Baseball Falls to Arkansas-Monticello

ADA - The East Central University baseball dropped the final game of a three-game Great American Conference series against Arkansas-Monticello at Ken Turner Field, 6-8.

The Tigers (19-14, 10-9 GAC) saw multiple hit games from seniors Nick Spini, Casey Chenoweth and Ty Huie, with Chenoweth adding two RBIs.

The Boll Weevils (13-16, 10-12 GAC) were the first to get on the scoreboard with a single run in the top of the second.

ECU added two runs in the bottom of the second on home runs from Chenoweth and Ty Huie for the 2-1 lead.

UAM then regained the lead with four runs in the top of the third for a 2-5 advantage.

The Tigers cut the disadvantage to one in the bottom of the third. Senior Ariel Adut led off with a single, senior Garret Donohoe was walked and senior Bryce McKee added a single to load the bases. That allowed Chenoweth to score a run on a fielder's choice and senior Andrew Ayrado to earn an RBI with a single.

The Boll Weevils then added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth for an 8-4 advantage.

ECU again cut the deficit to two in the bottom of the sixth. Sophomore Trevor Huie was walked and Ty Huie singled to left center before senior Dustin Torres scored two runs with a double to right center.

The Tigers will now get ready for a non-conference double-header against Oklahoma City, Tuesday, April 14 starting at 4 p.m.
