Baseball Steps Back into GAC Play

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will be looking to build on its current three-game winning streak and get back on track in Great American Conference play when it hosts Harding for a three-game set March 2-3 at The Ballpark in Durant.

Saturday's action with feature a double-header with a noon first pitch, while Sunday's single contest is set for 1 p.m.

The Savage Storm come into the weekend with a 7-6 record overall and a 2-4 mark in conference play, but the team is coming off a double-header sweep of Tarleton State midweek and is riding a three-game winning streak.

Southeastern has scored six runs in each of those wins, which are the most runs it has posted since putting up eight in a 9-8 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville eight games ago.

The Storm is led on offense by Ryan Salter who is hitting .333 on the year with 16 hits and a team-best 10 stolen bases.

He is joined above the .300 plateau by Chevis Springer who is hitting .306 in the leadoff spot with 15 hits including three doubles and a home run.

SE has a pair of players hitting in the .290's, with Evan Ramsey at .297 and Aaron Chalk at .290. Ramsey has posted three four-RBI outings and leads the team with 14 runs batted and has also connected on a team-high three home runs.

The Storm pitching has been solid on the season, posting a staff ERA of 3.39 which is third best in the GAC.

Southeastern starters, however, have not been incredibly lucky as Vance Woodruff and Brandon Marris are both off to 0-2 starts.

Woodruff leads the starters in ERA at 2.55, while Marris is at 3.42 and leads the team with 20 strikeouts.

Eddie Cervantes has the best record on the squad at 3-1 in five appearances with one start and boasts a 4.30 ERA.

The Bisons come into the weekend at 8-2 on the season and 2-1 in league play after posting a 12-2 midweek win over No. 1 Delta State on Wednesday.

HU is paced by Gabe Fyock on offense who is hitting .419 on the year with three doubles and three RBI.

He has followed by a group of four everyday players who are batting better than .300 with Victor Guerra leading the team with 10 RBI and Jeremy Bohnett right behind at nine.

The Harding pitching staff boasts a 2.84 staff ERA with Hayden Shirley leading the starting rotation with a 3-0 record and a 1.80 ERA. Cameron Walker has chipped in a 1.86 ERA in a pair of starts, but has yet to record a decision.

The bullpen has three players that have made multiple appearances without allowing a run, led by Josh Spears who has a 2-0 record in five appearances. Bronson Smith and Zac Stewart have each recorded saves.
