Austin College volleyball players Rebekah Bowden and Presleigh Watson have been named All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers for the 2015 season, the league office announced today.
Bowden, a sophomore middle blocker from Flint, was a first team All-SCAC selection after leading the conference with a .401 hitting percentage and also finishing atop the conference leaderboard with 140 total blocks. Both of those numbers also place her among the national leaders. For the year, Bowden averaged a team-high 2.15 kills-per-set and 1.13 blocks-per-set, and had just 36 hitting errors in 36 matches played.
Watson, a junior middle blocker from Oklahoma City, was a second team All-SCAC selection after finishing just behind Bowden in the conference with 135 total blocks, and also ranked among the SCAC leaders and led the team with 281 total kills. She was second on the team with an average of 2.1 kills-per-set and 1.01 blocks-per-set, and had a .271 hitting percentage for the year. This is the second straight year Watson has earned All-Conference recognition.
